I’m a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Massachusetts (though I have lived in many places). I did my masters degree in Textile Futures at Central St Martins in London (fabrics that change over time!) and a BFA in studio art at the Museum School in Boston (pseudo-documentary photography).

In early internet days I was thrilled to be featured in Design*Sponge: Storytelling Through Drawing, on Women Who Draw and work as a teacher at Etsy Labs in Brooklyn. My very first editorial assignment was for Anthology Magazine (Thank you Meg Mateo!).

My first book, American Food: A Not-So-Serious History with Rachel Wharton, was published in the fall of 2019 with Abrams Books. You can see my studio site Nottene for wallpaper and textiles. My work has been recognised by American Illustration (twice!), the Society of Publication Designers, and in profiles in Cool Hunting, Design Milk, and Dwell Magazine.

I love doing artist’s residencies and have been honoured to spend time at RAIR Philly (2017), John Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute (2018), and Winterthur Museum and Garden (2020). I also love to teach and have spent 6 years teaching at MICA in Baltimore and am currently with illustration students at the University of Gloucestershire in the Cotswolds of the United Kingdom.
